Why I choose biochemistry as my career

I talked before that I am studying biochemistry but I was not telling all my motives because I was doing a brief introduction of myself so right now I’m going to dedicated the time it deserves.

I always loved to help people with his problems, to watch them recover and continuing with their life’s, I also loved science, the chemistry and the biology that needs to happen in order to make our body moves, and recovers from almost everything that might happen.

From this point of view I had 2 very different options about what kind of career choose.
The first option was to choose a scientific career that cares about humans and has direct contact with people.(careers as: medicine, nursing, kinesiology, etc.)

The second option was to choose a scientific career that did not have direct contact with people but that my help was given to them anyway (helping behind doors), the career needed to be then more about working in a lab, discovering new things and new techniques to help people.(careers as: chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, etc.)

In the end and after think about it a lot, I ended choosing biochemistry because it was the most balanced decision I could make. It cares a lot about the science that happens in our bodies, and with that knowledge I can help people behind doors working in a lab!.

right now I think that I am sleeping like 4-5 hours per day but it is worth it.

About me

Who am I?

Let me introduce myself, hi, my name is Renzo (yes, that’s my real name(not Lorenzo)) I’m 19 years old and I’m from Sullana, Peru. I came to Chile when I was 5 years old and I'm been living here since then. I lived my childhood like every other Chilean kid, it wasn’t until I was 8 that my parents explained to me that I wasn’t Chilean (shocking :o)

Since middle school that I love science in the order: biology > chemistry > physics (sorry physics :c)
My dream was to be a scientist (but not of physics) so i searched for all the options, considering several things like the amount of years of study that It would take, the amount of money, what I personally like and dislike and I ended up choosing biochemistry as my career.

The biochemistry study all the organic reactions that happens in our body and try to apply his knowledge of this to improve the everyday life of all human mankind.
Despite that my career demands a lot of my time, I still have time (sometimes because I “make time”) to relax and do others things that I like, like doing weightlifting or listen music or watch TV.

Things that I ENJOY are weightlifting and eat delicious food (guilty pleasure), I could spend hours talking about weightlifting or I could eat a tremendous amount of food in a row.

Some more normal interest may be movies or books, I love the movie “Extremis” and the book “The lord of the rings. Both are to me just perfect. Extremis talks about how hard is for a doctor or a family to choose the destiny of a patient that most likely is about to die, they have to choose if the give to the patient a last moment of peace or just try to buy more time even if that means to give the patient nothing more that agony. the lord of the rings.... well everybody knows about T.L.O.T.R.

My favorite picture

105 pounds dumbells Well, it may sound weird but my favorite picture right now is not a picture of me and my family in some random celeb...
